Walk/Run and Rally for Israel
Commemorating the Anniversary of the October 7 Massacre
Sunday, October 6, 2024
Join the Baltimore Zionist District (BZD) and our partners for a meaningful day of remembrance, solidarity, and community action as we unite for a Run/Walk and Rally for Israel. This special event is a testament to our unity, honoring the lives lost during the horrific events of October 7, 2023, and serving as a powerful expression of our collective strength and hope for Israel’s future.
Your Presence Matters
By joining this Run/Walk and Rally, you are commemorating a tragic day and contributing to real, positive change. With every step, we honor those lost and support wounded soldiers in their rehabilitation journey through the Vea’havta organization. Vea’havta, literally “Love thy” from the Biblical verse “Love thy neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18), is a non-profit organization that provides emotional and financial support to hospitalized patients, with an emphasis on wounded IDF soldiers and victims of terrorism. Now, more than ever, it’s vital for us to stand united. By showing up for this event, we send a strong message that the Jewish community is resilient and we will not stand alone in the face of adversity. Together, we ensure the memory of October 7 remains alive in our hearts and our actions.
Fasting? Please join us for all or part of this event.

- Location: Front lawn of Wellwood Elementary School, 2901 Smith Avenue
- 1.70-mile walk
- 7.10 km (4.4-mile) run
- from Wellwood School to Quarry Lake and back
Participants are encouraged to purchase Walk/Run for Israel T-shirts for $50 and hats for $30. All proceeds will go to the Vea’havta organization, which helps rehabilitate wounded soldiers and support their return to everyday life.
The T-shirt design is deeply symbolic, featuring a Star of David made of 1,145 dots—representing each life lost on October 7. The yellow ribbon, a symbol of the hope for the release of hostages, is also crafted from 1,145 dots, a reminder of the profound impact of that day. The message “We will dance again” is a tribute to the resilience and spirit of the Nova Music Festival tragedy. This phrase embodies our shared hope, resilience, and determination that we will rise, rebuild, and triumph. By purchasing and wearing these T-shirts, you are showing your support and carrying the memory of the lost lives and the hope for a better future.
